OUR FACILITIES
Rocky Mountain Log Homes is located in the heart of western Montana's Bitterroot Valley, six miles south of Hamilton, at 1883 Hwy. 93 South.
Our partner for handcrafted homes, Pioneer Log Homes' facility just down the Bitterroot in Victor, Montana.
The entire Rocky home office team, Hamilton, Montana.
The process starts with rounding machines, custom built for Rocky, which turn the naturally seasoned dry-standing tree into a milled round log of consistent size.
Next, the wall logs are cut to precise lengths on our unique manufacturing line. The logs are coped to fit over each other, corners are cut into a saddle-notch, and the grooves are cut on the top and bottom of the logs for our exclusive WeatherLock® spline and gasket system.
Special logs for trusses, rafters, purlins and log floor joists are manufactured to precise design specifications using a machine that is capable of cutting mortise and tenon timber frames. This is the most versatile milling machine in the industry.
The logs are inspected for quality one last time before being stacked into packages and wrapped in protective plastic sheets for shipping. This protects your logs in transit and on the jobsite.
Finally, your package is loaded onto trucks, tarped and ready to ship to you. Final inventories and inspections are made of the package to assure that all items are complete and of the highest quality.

Rocky Mountain Log Homes' state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is one more reason we lead the pack. Our equipment can mill logs consistently, with precise cuts to provide our owners with the most structurally sound homes upon completion. It all begins in our design department, where the instructions are created and then sent to our milling machines to manufacture all of the log components for your home package.
Our rounding machines, custom built for Rocky, turn the naturally seasoned, dry-standing trees into round, milled logs of consistent size. Special log components are manufactured to precise design specifications using another machine that is also capable of cutting timber frames. To give you an example of our milling facility's capabilities, we are able to mill a log into an item as delicate as a root beer mug or as massive as a 60-foot-long, 12 inch-diameter log truss.
